The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Dunany contained the following places:

"DUNANY, a parish in the barony of Ferrard, in the county of Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Dunleer, its post town. It lies near Dunaney Point on Dundalk Bay, and is a fishing village and chief coastguard station. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Armagh, value with three others, £116, in the patronage of the Marquis of Drogheda. The church was built in 1814, and from its elevated site serves as a landmark for ships. There are two day schools. Dunany House is the seat of the Bellinghams."
