The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Haynestown contained the following places:

"HAYNESTOWN, (or Hainstoun), a parish in the barony of Upper Dundalk, county Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles S. of Dundalk, its post town. It is 2 miles in length, and 12 mile in breadth. The surface consists of a good soil, and is intersected by the Dublin and Belfast road. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Armagh, value £285, in the patronage of the primate. The church was built in 1827 by the late Board of First Fruits. Clermont Park is the seat of the Fortescue family. Here are ruins of Dunmahon Castle.
