The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Mapastown contained the following places:

"MAPASTOWN, a parish in the barony of Ardee, county Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.N.E. of Ardee. The parish is 2 miles long by 1 mile broad. The surface lies along the banks of the river Glyde. It consists of good land, and is traversed by the road from Ardee to Dundalk. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Armagh, value with Charlestown, £365, in the patronage of the primate. Dowdstown is the chief seat."
