In 1868, the parish of Salterstown contained the following places:"SALTERSTOWN, a parish in the barony of Ferrard, county Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E. of Castle-Bellingham. Dunleer is its post town. It is situated on Dundalk Bay. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Armagh, value with Dunany, £116. The parish is joined to Dysart and Clonmore in the Roman Catholic arrangement. This parish was a possession of Millifont Abbey. Copper and lead were formerly worked."
