The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Annagh contained the following places:

"ANNAGH, a parish in the barony of Costello, in the county of Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 20 miles to the S.E. of Castlebar. It is situated near the river Moy, and contains the town of Ballyhaunes. Here was formerly a monastic establishment, whether of the Franciscan or Augustine order is doubtful, which was a cell to the abbey of Cong. The living is a rectory, part of the union of Kiltullagh in the diocese of Tuam, Killala, and Achonry."
