The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyhean contained the following places:

"BALLYHEAN, (or Ballyhane), a parish in the barony of Carra, in the county of Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 8 miles to the E. of Westport. The living is a rectory included in the union of Burriscarra, in the diocese of Tuam, Killala, and Achonry. There is a Roman Catholic chapel. Fairs are held on the 4th July and the 20th August.
