The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Bohola contained the following places:

"BOHOLA, (or Buchola), a parish in the barony of Gallen, in the county of Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 6 miles to the S.E. of Foxford. It is situated on the banks of the river Gustien, a branch of the Moy. The country is hilly, but the land is mostly good and tinder cultivation. The living is a vicarage, forming part of the union of Straid, or Templemore, in the diocese of Tuam, Killala, and Achonry. The church is decayed.
