In 1868, the parish of Kilmainebeg contained the following places:

"KILMAINEBEG, a parish in the barony of Kilmaine, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 5 miles S.E. of Ballinrobe, its post town. It is 3 miles long by 2 broad, and contains the village of Kilmaine. The surface consists of a good soil, and is traversed by the road from Kilmaine to Tuam. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Tuam, value with Kilmaine, £458, in the patronage of the bishop. Fountain Hill is the chief residence. Here is a day school.

"CORDOON, a hamlet in the parish of Kilmainebeg, in the county of Mayo, Ireland, 2 miles S. of Kilmaine, and 5 from Ballinrobe."
