The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Knock contained the following places:

"KNOCK, a parish in the baronies of Costello and Clanmorris, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Clare. The roads from Clanmorris to Ballaghdireen, and from Ballyhannis to Kiltamagh intersect the interior. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Tuam, value with Kiltullagh, £624, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Aghamore. There are several hedge-schools."
