In 1868, the parish of Touaghty contained the following places:

"TOUAGHTY, a parish in the barony of Carra, county Mayo, province of Ulster, Ireland, 7 miles N. of Ballinrobe. The surface consists of good soil skirting the lake of Carcownaron. The parish includes the petty sessions town of Ballyglass (which see). The living is an imp. rectory and vicarage The principal residences are Mount Pleasant and Towerhill.

"BALLYGLASS, a village in the parish of Touaghty and barony of Carra, in the county of Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 9 miles to the S.E. of Castlebar. It is a police station, and petty sessions are held once a fortnight."
