In 1868, the parish of Ballymurreen contained the following places:"BALLYMURREEN, a parish in the barony of Eliogarty, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles to the S. of Thurles. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Cashel, Emly, Waterford, and Lismore, of the value of £131, in the patronage of the bishop.
