The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Buolick contained the following places:

"BUOLICK, a parish in the barony of Slievardagh, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 9 miles to the E. of Thurles, which is a station on the Great Southern and Western railway. It is situated on the borders of Kilkenny, in a boggy district, near the Bog of Allen, and was the site of an ancient castle, a seat of the Butlers, of which some remains are still to be seen. Coal is found in the vicinity. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cashel, Emly, Waterford, and Lismore. The church is in ruins. The principal seat is Littlefield."
