The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Clonoulty contained the following places:

"CLONOULTY, a parish in the baronies of Clanwilliam and Lower Kilnamanagh, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles to the N. W. of Cashel, its post town. It lies near the river Suir, and is traversed by the road from Thurles to Tipperary. The surface, which is generally of fair quality, with limestone subsoil, rises to an elevation of 1,188 feet above sea-level on Knockbane. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Cashel, value £384, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a Roman Catholic chapel at Clonoulty, and another at Rossmore. Several schools are within the parish. Clonoulty House is the principal residence. Fairs are held on the 5th July and 12th November."
