The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcomenty contained the following places:

"KILCOMENTY, a parish in the baronies of Owney and Arra, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, near Newport-Tip, its post town. It is 3 miles long and the same broad. The surface is hilly, containing some of the lower elevations of the Keeper mountains. It is traversed by the road from Birr to Limerick. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cashel, value with Newport, £822, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Kilnearath and Kilvolane. Here are a National school and four private day schools. Cragg, Birdhill, Annaholty, and Parteen are the principal residences."
