The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilmastulla contained the following places:

"KILMASTULLA, a parish in the barony of Owney, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles N.N.E. of Newport-Tip. Killaloe is its post town. The parish is 4½ miles long by 2½ broad. The surface is mountainous, containing spurs of the Keeper mountains. The interior is traversed by the road from Dublin to Limerick, and by the Kilmastulla rivulet, which is a tributary to the Shannon. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Emly, value with Templekelly, £540, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was a gift from the late Board of First Fruits in 1791. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Templekelly. There are a Roman Catholic, Sunday, and two or three day schools. Kilmastulla House and Crannagh House are the chief seats."
