The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rathnaveoge contained the following places:

"RATHNAVEOGE, a parish in the barony of Ikerrin, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles S.W. of Roscrea, its post town. It comprises some waste land, and a part of Benduff Mountain, on which rises a small tributary to the river Nore. The road from Dublin to Limerick crosses the parish. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Killaloe, value with Dunkerrin, 8773, in the patronage of the bishop. It is joined to Dunkerrin in the Roman Catholic division. Lisduff, Honey Mount, Summer Hill, and New Grove are the principal residences. The ruins of Ballynakill Castle are situated on an eminence, and near which are those of the old church and castle of Rathnaveoge."
