The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Relickmurry contained the following places:

"RELICKMURRY, a parish in the barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles S.W. of Cashel, its post town. The parish, which is extensive, contains the post town of Golden and the village of Thomastown. The surface forms part of the "Golden Vale," near the river Suir. The soil is rich. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cashel. The church is situated at Golden. The Roman Catholic chapel is also in that town, and forms the head of a union. There are a National school, besides charity and several private day schools. Rockview is one of the principal seats.

"GOLDEN, a post and market village in the parish of Relickmurry, barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles W. of Cashel. It is a thriving little place, occupying a delightful situation in Golden Vale, on the river Suir, which is here crossed by a bridge where the Cashel charter was signed by William III. Here is a church, Roman Catholic chapel, and National school. Castle Park and Golden Hill are the chief seats in the neighbourhood. Athassal Priory is within a short distance. Here is a police station, and petty sessions are held once a fortnight. An old round tower stands near the bridge. Fairs are held on the 18th May, 26th August, 26th October, and 15th December."
