The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rochestown contained the following places:

"ROCHESTOWN, a parish in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 2½ miles S.E. of Cahir, its post town. The surface lies along the river Suir. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lismore, value with Ardfinnan, £188, in the patronage of the bishop. The church has long been in ruins. It is united to Ardfinnan in the Roman Catholic arrangement. There is a school. The remains of an old castle and several raths and earthworks are to be traced."
