In 1868, the parish of Templeneiry contained the following places:

"TEMPLENEIRY, a parish in the barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles S.E. of Tipperary, its post town. The surface consists chiefly of mountain and bog. The parish includes the village of Bansha. It is traversed by the river Aherlow and by the Galtee mountains. The living is a rectory, value with two others £562, in the patronage of the bishop. The principal residences are Lismacue and Bansha Castle."

"BANSHA, (or Templeneiry), a village in the parish of Templeneiry, in the barony of Clanwilliam, and county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles to the S.E. of Tipperary. It is situated on the banks of the river Arra, and is a station on the Waterford and Limerick railway.
