"LICKBLA, a parish in the barony of Fore, county Westmeath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Castle Pollard, its post town. The parish is 4 miles long and 3½ broad at the widest. The surface lies along the right bank of the river Inny, near Lough Sheelin. The road from Castle Pollard to Finma, and the rivulet Glore, traverse the parish. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Meath, value with Rathgraff, £361, in the patronage of the bishop. There are a Roman Catholic chapel and two day schools. Ruins of the old church are seen. Near the Curreagh Rock stands Rathcreenagh Castle."
