The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Russagh contained the following places:

"RUSSAGH, a parish in the barony of Moygoish, county Westmeath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4½ miles S.E. of Edgeworthstown. Rathowen is its post town. The surface lies along the N. bank of the river Inny. The soil is good, but there is a great deal of bog. Lough Gar is within the limits. The living is a vicarage in the diocese -of Ardagh, value with Rathaspick, £200. The church has long been in ruins. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Rathaspick. There is a school."
