The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyanne contained the following places:

"BALLYANNE, a parish in the barony of Bantry, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles to the N. of New Ross. It is situated in a fertile and well cultivated country on the east bank of the river Barrow, within sight of the White Mountains. The living is a sect. forming part of the union of New Ross in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. There is a Roman Catholic chapel, and an endowed school, founded by Henry Houghton, Esq. The principal seats are Ballyanne and Berkeley."
