The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballybrennan contained the following places:

"BALLYBRENNAN, a parish in the barony of Forth, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles to the S. of Wexford. It lies at the southern end of Wexford Haven. A castle formerly existed here. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin, value £66, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dilapidated. The chief residence is Ballybrennan Castle, which belongs to the Earl of Rathdown."
