The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyhoge contained the following places:

"BALLYHOGE, a parish in the baronies of Bantry and Shelmaliere, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles to the S. of Enniscorthy. It lies on the west bank of the navigable river Slaney. The living is a perpetual curacy, part of the union of Killurin, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. The principal seats are Bellevue, a handsome mansion with extensive and beautiful grounds, Birchgrove, and McMines."
