The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcavan contained the following places:

"KILCAVAN, a parish in the barony of Bargy, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles S.W. of Taghmon. Wexford is its post town. It is about 1 mile in length, and the same in breadth. The surface consists of a fair soil. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ferns, value £230, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built in 1820. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Bannow. There are six daily schools and a Sunday-school; also an Augustine convent at Granstown, in which Dr. Doyle was educated. Ballongton and Harristown are the principal residences."
