The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilmore contained the following places:

"KILMORE, a parish and post-office village in the barony of Bargy, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles S. of Badgetoun. Broadway is its post town. It is 3 miles long by 2 broad, and comprises a small detached district, besides the Saltee Islands. The surface extends along a small harbour indenting the sea-lough Ballyteigue. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ferns, joined with Tomhaggard. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Tomhaggard. The principal seats are Ballyteigue Castle and Ballyharty House; near the former are the ruins of the old castle, which was the seat of the Whites. There is a coastguard station in the village."

"SALTEE ISLANDS, in the barony of Bargy, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland. They consist of a group of two islands, distinguished as Great and Little, and several outstanding rocks. They are situated about 4 miles off the coast in the parish of Kilmore, and are the property of H. Morgan, Esq. Traces of numerous buildings suggest that the islands have been formerly of greater importance. Beyond the rocks is a floating light, visible at a distance of 9 miles."
