The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Mayglass contained the following places:

"MAYGLASS, a parish in the barony of Forth, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 6 miles S.W. of Wexford, its post town. The parish is 3 miles long by 2½ broad. The soil is mostly good. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ferns, value with Killinick, £310, in the patronage of the crown and bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Ballymore. There is a day school. Thornville is the principal residence. There are ruins of the old parish church, which is supposed to have originally been an abbey, founded at the close of the 13th century; also ruins of three other churches, and of Ballycogley Castle.
