In 1868, the parish of Newcastle Lower contained the following places:

"NEWCASTLE LOWER, a parish and post-office village in the barony of Newcastle, county Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2½ miles S. of Kilcoole. It is a station on the Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford line. The parish is 3 miles long by 2½ broad. The surface is principally flat and of small value. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Dublin, in the patronage of the archbishop. The church stands in the village. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Delgany. There are several day schools. Woodstock is the residence of Lord Tottenham. In the parish are ruins of a castle and of a church. The village stands on the road from Bray to Wicklow. Fairs are held on 1st April, 10th July, 1st September, and 6th December."

"KILLADREENAN, a village in the parish of Newcastle Lower, barony of Newcastle, county Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles from Newtown Mount Kennedy. Here are ruins of a church, once the burial-place of the O'Toole family. Killadreenan Cottage stands in the vicinity."

"KILTIMON, a demesne in the parish of Newcastle Lower, county Wicklow, Ireland, 2 miles S. of Newtown-Mount, or Kennedy, or 6 N. of Wicklow. It lies near the river Leabeg, and gives name to Kiltimon Glen."
