"A small village on the shore of Clackmannan parish, with a small harbour."
[Clackmannan and Kinross by J.P.Day B.A. B Sc., 1915 ]
There was a distillery here and it was connected to another distillery at Kilbagie, in its time the largest distillery in Scotland. The two were connected by canal and tramway, and at their height the two distilleries were said to have paid in excise duties an amount greater than the whole land tax of Scotland at the time. Changes in the excise laws brought about the demise of these old distilleries.
Kennetpans is in Clackmannan parish.
