Blackie's Popular Encyclopedia (1894) says of the congregations of the Evangelical Union that they follow independent government. That they have a conference in October each year in Glasgow. That the conference has no jurisdiction over the Union's pastors or congregations. It does, however, manage the Home and Foreign Missions, and the Theological Institution. The Encyclopedia records that the Union had 93 congregations in 1890. Most were in Scotland, but some in the north of England, and at least one in Ireland.
