It was founded in 1877. The church was closed in 1918, and demolished in 1985.
Although initially an Evangelical Union Church, the congregation joined the UP Church in 1899. By 1904, an FP congregation was established. In 1905, the minister joined the Free Church of Scotland. The FP congregation ultimately became the Gilmore Place congregation, while the Free Church members joined with St Columbas in 1918.
In 1972 the Congregational church joined with the English Presbyterian church to become the United Reformed Church. Some Congregational churches though did not take this path and became members of the Congregational Federation.
