"Dechreuwyd pregethu yn achlysurol yma gan Mr. R. P. Griffiths, Pwllheli, flwyddyn 1841, ond yn 1845, prynwyd yma gapel bychan, yr hwn oedd eiddo y Wesleyaid Cymanfaol, a chasglwyd yma gynnulleidfa fechan, a ffurfiwyd yma eglwys Annibynol. Bu y lle o'r dechreuad dan ofal gweinidogion Pwllheli hyd y flwyddyn 1871, pryd y ffurfiwyd Capel newydd, Mynytho, a Llanbedrog yn un weinidogaeth, a rhoddwyd galwad i Mr. E. Jones, Bodedeyrn. Urddwyd ef Rhagfyr 10fed, 1871, ac yr oedd y rhan fwyaf o weinidogion y cyfundeb yn bresenol ar yr achlysur. Nid yw yr achos yma ond bychan, ond y mae golwg siriol arno, a theimlir yn hyderus fod dyddiau gwell yn ei aros."

Translation by Gareth Hicks (Jan 2008)

Mr R P Griffiths, Pwllheli began to occasionally preach here in 1841, but in 1845, they bought a small chapel, the one that belonged to the Wesleyans, and collected here a small gathering, and established an Independent cause here. From the start the place was under the care of the ministers at Pwllheli, until the year 1871, when Capel newydd, Mynytho and Llanbedrog were established under the one ministry, and they gave a call to Mr E Jones, Bodedeyrn. He was inaugurated on 10th December 1871, and most of the ministers of the connection were present on the occasion. The cause here is small, but it has a cheery face, and a confidence that better days are in the offing."
