The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Bettws Evan contained the following places:

"BETTWS-EVAN, (or Jenvan), a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Troedyrawr, in the county of Cardigan, South Wales, 8 miles to the E. of Cardigan. It contains the hamlets of Bettws and Llynnchel, and is comprised within the Poor-law Union of Newcastle-in-Emlyn. The living is a perpetual curacy attached to the vicarage of Penbryn, in the diocese of St. David's. The church is dedicated to St. John.

"BETTWS, a hamlet in the parish of Bettws Evan, and hundred of Troedyrawr, in the county of Cardigan, South Wales, 8 miles to the E. of Cardigan."

"LLYNCHEL, a hamlet in the parish of Bettws Evan, county Cardigan, 4 miles N. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn."
