In 1868, the parish of Llandyssil contained the following places:

"LLANDYSSIL, (or Llan-dyssul-ywch-kerdin), a parish in the hundreds of Troedyraur and Moyddyn, county Cardigan, 7 miles E. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn, and 11 S.W. of Lampeter, its post town. It is a station on the Carmarthen and Cardigan branch of the South Wales railway. It is situated on the northern bank of the river Teifi, which is here crossed by a bridge. The parish includes the townships of Borthin, Capel-Ddewi, Fairdref, and three others. There were formerly four chapels in the parish, but they are all now in ruins. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of St. David's, value with the curacy of Capel Dewi, £150, in the patronage of the bishop. There is also a sinecure rectory, value £400, in the gift of Jesus College, Oxford. The church, dedicated to St. Tysilio, is for the most part in the early English style of architecture. The Independents and Wesleyan Methodists have chapels. Here are some ancient barrows, and remains of two old castles, belonging to the Humphreys, Mael gwms, and others. Thursday is market day; and fairs are held on 11th February, Thursday previous to Palm Sunday, 21st June, 19th September, and 11th November.

"CAPEL-DDEWI, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, hundred of Moyddyn, in the county of Cardigan, South Wales, 6 miles to the E. of Newcastle-Emlyn. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the vicarage of Llandyssil, in the diocese of St. David's."

"FAIRDREF, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, county Cardigan, 7 miles E. of Newcastle Emlyn."

"GLANDYSILVED, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, county Cardigan, South Wales, 7 miles E. of Newcastle-Emlyn."

"LLANFRENE, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, county Cardigan, 7 miles E. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn. The hamlet, which is considerable, is situated near the bridge over the river Teifi."

"LLANVAIR, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, hundred of Moyddyn, county Cardigan, 6 miles E. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn."

"PENCADER, a hamlet in the parish of Llandyssil, county Cardigan, 8 miles E. of Newcastle-in-Emlyn. It is a station on the Carmarthen and Cardigan railway."
