In 1868, the parish of Rhostie contained the following places:
"RHOSTIE, (or Rhosdhu), a parish in the upper division of Ilar hundred, county Cardigan, 6 miles S.E. of Aberystwith, and - 9 from Tregaron. The village, which is small and wholly agricultural, is situated near the sea-coast. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St. David's, value £101, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Michael.
