And first I give and bequeath my soul unto the Almighty my maker faving full assurance of remission and free pardon of all my sins by and through the merits and intercession of Jesus Christ my saviour and redeemer and my body to be buried in the parish Church of St Martins near the burial place of my father John Bateman, Snr alderman at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named.

I Arthur Bateman of the Town and County of Haverforwest being of sound mind and perfect memory (thanks go to god for the same) and duly reflecting on the uncertainty of human life do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
And first I resign my soul to Almight god who created me hoping through the merits and intercession of my saviour Jesus Christ to have free pardon for my sins and as for my body I desire it may be decently buried at the expense of my executor hereinafter mentioned and as to my worldly goods, I dispose of the same in the manner following.
And first I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Thomas Bateman the sum of five pounds of British money to be paid within six months after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named provided he come in person to demand the same if ever.
Also I give to my daughter Lettis Long all the demands and debts that I have upon her by any ways and means soever together with my silver watch.
Also I give my grandson Arthur Evans the sum of twelve pounds to be laid out for his advantage by his mother and my Executor herein mentioned and it is my will that he be maintained by my Executor with meat drink washing lodging and apparel until he come to the age of fourteen.
Also I give to my stepdaughter Mary Griffith the ?? in the parish of Ambleston and County of Pembroke the sum of two pounds to be paid her within two months by my Executor after my decease.
Also I give to my sister Elizabeth Roch of Tre?emer the sum of twenty shillings to be paid her within one month after my decease if ever.
Also I give twenty shillings to be given between forty of the meanest and poorest people of this Town and County
I do hereby nominate and appoint my dearly loved son Arthur Bateman to be Executor of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills before made and I subscribe my name and set my seal hereto in the presence of the subscribers this sixteenth day of August 1745.

I give devise and bequeath unto my sister Lettice Phillips, wife of Lewis Phillips, of the Town and County of Haverfordwest, Inholder, the sum of ten shillings to be paid her at my decease by my Executrix hereinafter named.
I give devise and bequeath unto my dearly loved wife Rachel Bateman the leases and leasehold promises, benefit and advantage whatsoever which can be made of the Priory Hills and Earthlot in the County of Pembroke with the appurtenances for the remainder of the term I have on the same, she paying the rents and performing the covenants in the said leases contained and also all my goods, chattles rights and credit real and personal estates whatsoever and wheresoever unto and to the only propor?? and behoov of my said dealy beloved wife Rachel Bateman, her heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns forever.
And I hereby nominate and appoint my said dearly beloved wife Executorix of this myy last will and testament in witness whereof I have herein set my hand and seal the twenty seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three.

Will of David Bateman of Rhoslannog Fach
This is my last will and testament of me David Bateman of Rhoslanog Fach in the Parish of Mathry in the County of Pembroke, Farmer. I gave and bequeath all of my real and personal estate, whatsoever and wheresoever unto my wife Mary Bateman during her life and after her death as following; the part of the Farm called Rhoslanog Fach which my wife had by her father, Thomas Williams, is given to my son Thomas Bateman and to his Executors, administrators or assigns forever and the other part of the aforesaid Farm which I, myself, purchased with its appurtenances is to my son John Bateman and to his Executors, administrators and assigns forever. The whole stock and crop and implements and husbandry of the aforesaid Farm is to be sold in twelve months after the death of my wife, by my two sons jointly. Thomas Bateman and John Bateman to pay off all the legacies debts hereinafter mentioned. I give and bequeath to James Bateman the sum of twenty pounds and to Sarah Griffiths twenty pounds and to Elizabeth Davies thirty pounds and to Lettice Phillips five pounds and to Jane Bateman eighty pounds with board and lodgings maintained in clothing and food during her lifetime or until she marries. I hereby appoint my wife Mary Bateman to be sole Executrix of this my last Will. In witness whereof I the said David Batgeman to this my last Will set my hand the 10th day of August 1869.

In the name of God, Amen, I Frances Bateman of the Parish of St Thomas in the Town and County of Haverfordwest, spinster, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, prased be God for the same, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, this is to say: First and Principally, I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my Creator, hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ to obtain parden and remission of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life. And my body, I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the Direction of my Executor hereinafter mentioned. And as touching what worldlyt Estate and Effects it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and dispose thereof in manner and form following: That is to say.
Imprimis, I give and bequeath to my well-beloved nephew, the Reverend Mr Thomas Bowen, now of the Parish of St MArtin in the Town and County of Haverfordwest, the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of Great Brittain, to be paid him by my Executor, as follows, viz. the sum of fifty pounds immediately at, or after the end of Twelve Calendar months after my decease and fifty pounds immediaely at or after the end of two years after my decease.
I likewise give and bequeath the sum of ten pounds to Elizabeth Bowen, the wife of the aforesaid Rev. Mr Thomas Bowen.
And likewise the sum of five pounds to my cousin Mary Bateman of the Parish of St Maries, widow.
And likewise the sum of five pounds to my cousin Elizabeth Williams wife of Charles Williams and daughter of the afresaid Mary Bateman of the Parish aforesaid.
And likewise the sum of three pounds per annum to Mrs Priscilla Jenkins of the Parish of St Maries during the term of her natural life.
And likewise four pounds per annum to Mrs Ann Thomas of the Parish of St Maries during the term of her natural life, it being the sum I used to pay her annually.
And likewise I give and bequeath the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Brittain (of which all my legacies must be paid) to my servant Elizabeth John and wife of David John of the Parish of St Thomas, in the Town and County of Haverfordwest aforesaid.
And as to the rest and residue of my Esatate or Estates real or personal, goods, cattle and Chattles of what name of nature soever and wheresoever, I give and bequeath to my well-beloved brother, the Reverend Thomas Bateman of East Hook in the Parish of Llamston, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns ?? they paying the within written legacies, to the persons withinmentioned, being all of the Town and County of Haverfordwest.

First I commend my soul and body to Almighty God my maker and by the death and passion of Jesus Christ my most ?? and ?? saviour to be saved and to enjoy that Heavenly forgiveness on which he hath promised to his ?? of and lawfully demands to ?? After my departure from this world: And as for my body I do give to be buried in Christian burial.

Imprimis: I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body to the earth from whence it came in hope of a joyfull resurrection through the merits of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and as for that worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I dispose thereof as followeth:

Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Elinor Bateman the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to her, her heirs or assigns, by my son Richard Thomas Bateman his heirs, Executors, administrators or assigns, when the said Richard Thomas Bateman (one of my executors to be mentioned) shall attain or arrive to the age of one and twenty years.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my second daughter Anne Bateman the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid unto her, her heirs and assigns by my son Richard Thomas Bateman his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns when my said son Richard Thomas Bateman shall attain or arrive and the age of one and twenty years.
Item: I give devise and bequeath unto my two daughters Elinor and Anne, all the lands and tenement or tenements which I hold by lease or leases in the Parish of Camrose in the County of Pembroke and also my lease of the corn:toll within the Town and County of Haverfordwest together with all the benefit of the said leases to be jointly enjoyed by them, my said two daughters during the term thereof.
Item: I give devise and bequeath unto my son Richard Thomas Bateman and to his heirs forever, all that my messauge, tenements and lands called LeWood situated and being in the Parish of Roch in the County of Pembroke and every part and parcel thereof to ?? of right belonging or in anywise appertaining with my right and title to the said tenement, and the reversion or reversions thereof or any part or parcel thereof.
The rest and residue of all and singular my goods, cattle and chattles and personal estate I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elinor Bateman and to my son Richard Thomas Bateman whom I do hereby name, constitute and appoint to be joint Executors of this my last will and testament. And I do hereby order that my said wife Elinor Bateman be guardian unto my said son Richard Thomas Bateman during his minority but if in case my said wife happen to die before my said son attain or arrive at the age of one and twenty years, then my will and meaning is I do hereby appoint Nicholas Roch of the Parish of Robeston in the County of Pembroke and John Davids of the Parish of Steynton in the said County, Clerk, to be guardians unto my said son until her attain or arrive to the full age of one and twenty years. I give, devise and bequeath the above leasehold estate after my said wife's decease unto my youngest son, Rowland Bateman, together with the stock and corn upon the same except as above excepted and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said son, Rowland Bateman, executor to this my last will and testament and I do hereby declare my will to be (that in consideration of the smallness of what I have to leave) my said executor shall not be obliged to pay any of the above legacies before the fall of six calendar months after the decease of my said wife has expired. On the 17th day of February 1872 the Will with a Codicil thereto /the said Codicil being without date but in fact executed on the tenth day of November 1871/ of Peter Bateman late of Lower Castlecenlas in the Parish of Mathry in the County of Pembroke, Farmer, deceased, who died on the 29th of December 1871 at Lower Castlecenlas, aforesaid, was proved in the Princial Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate, by the Oath of John Bateman of Tygwynne, Trevine in the County of Pembroke, Farmer, the son of the said Deceased.

In the name of God, Amen, I Price Bateman of the parish of Llanllawer in the County of Pembroke, husbandman, being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect min and memory, Praise be therefore given to the Almight God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say).
First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God hoping through the merits of the death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and foregiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching of disposition of all temporal estate as it hath pleased Almight God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof, as followeth:
First I will my debts and formal charges shall be paid and discharged.
All the rest and residue of my personal estate, goods and chattles whatsoever I do give and bequeath to my loving daughter Martha Bateman full and sole Executor of this my last will and testament and my will is if my daughter Martha shall be delivered unto my sister Mary Bateman to be nursed and kept for seven years and my will is that Eynon William being my cousin and William Higgon my cousin and David Havard my brother-in-law to sell all my personal estate but only that choice of dress? And one brass pan and that biggest brander? And as much of her motherâ€™s clothes as Mary Bateman think fit, and after the disposition of that personal estate to return the money wholly into the custody of Eynon William aforesaid and he shall pay out of the same one pound and ten shillings unto the said Mary Bateman towards the mainenance and keeping of the said Martha and to give five shillings more towards the schooling and learning of the said Martha. But in case of the said Martha die before she comes to age to make up of the said goods her self my will is that Catherine Harvard or her Executor peaceably and quickly have the fourth part thereof of the said money left in the custody of the aforesaid Eynon William and the third part unto the said Eynon William or his Executors and the half part between my brothers and sisters being Evan Bateman, David Bateman, Tess (Jess) Evan and Rebekah Howel and that Mary Bateman aforesaid to have in her share twice as much as any or either of the other brothers and sisters and that Eynon William is to give a note of hand unto the said William Higgon? and David Havard of the sum of money received of the personal estate.

By Divine Permission LORD BISHOP of St DAVIDâ€™s, in the penal sum of FORTY POUNDS of good and lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain Attorney, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, to which payment well and truly to be made, we oblige ourselves and each and every of us by himself and themselves for the whole our and each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly by these presents. In the name of God Amen I Thomas Bateman of Nesthook in the parish of Lambston in the County of Pembroke being in a declining state of bodily health but of sound mind and good memory do now make this my last will and testament which I declare in the following manner
When my immortal spirit shall return to God who gave it, I hope through the merits of our dear Redeemer that my sould shall be going in Fellowship with all those faithful souls who expect a happy resurrection. And when my body shall be ready for the grave I will that the Executrix of this my last will and testament shall take care to let it have Christian burial in a decent manner having a grave dug 10 feet deep to lay my corpse in in a burial place belonging to my family If I die within 10 miles of Lambston Parish paying a ?? for digging it and my bearers to be six poor men and six poor women giving them 10 shillings a piece and to each a pair of white gloves.
And as through the good providence of God I am at present possessed of real and personal estate or estates I shal therefore leave and bequeath them in the following manner:
I bequeath to my cosin Richard Fenton five pounds to buy Roch for his youngest son and I leave him the two men and one woman family pictures with my best blue coat and one riding coat, damask waistcoat and worsted breeches the best black worsted stockings and two of my new fine shirts and a pair of my best pumps and the great chest that is in the room over the kitchen and the two silk cushions with one of the best table cloths and half a dozen napkins the money to be paid within one year after my decease.

I bequeath to my cousin Thomas Williams son of my cousin Elizabeth Williams the sum of twenty pounds to be paid within two years after my decease and to have 20 shillings a year till the money is paid. I leave him the serritore-cane chairs that are in the parlour and the press that holds my clothes in my lodging room with my best grey coat, black cloth waistcoat and velvet breeches two pairs of good worsted stockings two fine shirts with two pair of pumps.
I likewise nominate and appoint my friend and housekeeper Mrs Dorothy Morse sole executrix of this my last will and testament and that she may be ennabled to fulfil the same and to pay all my debts I bequeath and leave to her, her heirs, executors and assigns all my real and personal estate or estates that lie or is situated in the Town and County of Haverfordwest with all sort of goods, money, writings, chattels or cattle that are my property situate in the said Town or here at Nesthook where I now live.
And whereas Mr William Bateman my elder brother has made a settlement of this estate called Nesthook or Easthook contrary to the marriage articles which were agreed to and signed by my mother on his marrying the late John Lambert daughter, and my brother's settlement being never signed by my mother whose estate it was and my brother dying before my mother consequently his settlement must be void.
I do therefore bequeath and have the said Nesthook estate to the lawful and rightful heir who it pleases God shall survive me.
As this my last will and testament is my own handwriting so now I set my hand and seal to it before three sufficient witnesses this fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine and in the 32^ndyear of the reign of our sovereign Lord George II by the grace of god of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King defender of the faith.

In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas Bateman of the parish of St Martin in the Town and County of Haverfordwest, Yeoman, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same so make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say,
first, I will and direct that all my just debts be fully paid and satisfied and subject thereto I give and bequeath all and singular my goods, chattles in ready money and securities for money and all other my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever to my only son James Bateman whom I do hereby make constitute and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament. Imprimis: I resign my soul into the hands of of my blessed redeemer and my body to be decently interred in Christian burial.
Item, I leave to my son John Batman the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful English money to be paid unto him at the age of one and twenty years in the meantime he to be maintained by my oldest son William Batman?? And clothes or to be paid in money ?? of one hundred pounds by my first son William Batman towards his yearly maintenance and if there shall be ?? paid John an apprenticeship to any trade or find him abroad for his better education, I do then oblige my son William to pay to my son John one moety of the one hundred ?? to bring him an apprenticeship and the other moiety at the age of one and twenty or sooner if he be out of his apprenticeship before that time.
I leave to my son Thomas Batman the like sum of one hundred pounds of current English money to be paid unto him by my son William after the same form and manner as to my abovewritten for John Batman
I leave to my daughter Sarah Batman the sum of five shillings to be paid her immediately after my decease.
I leave to my daughter Mary Batrman the sum of one hundred pounds of current English money to be paid unto her by my son William at the age of one and twenty or sooner if she marry with the consent of her mother, Mrs Frances Batman, in the meantime to be maintained with clothes at the cost and charges of the said William batman or to be paid yearly the full interest of one hundred pounds twoards her maintenance to be paid unto her by my son William.
I leave to my daughter Ffrances Batman the like sum of one hundred pounds of current English money to be paid unto her in the same form and manner as to my daughter Mary Batman.
I leave to my oldest son William Batman to better enable him to pay the personal debts and legacies herein mentioned the real and singylar messuages and tenements s underwritten: â€¦.
But to this pro?? If my aforesaid son William shall default or omit payment of the formal legacies herein mentioned I according to the form and manner ?? this by my last will and testament, if it shall be lawful for my wife Ffrances Batman together with my cousin William Bowen whom I appoint as tutors and guardians for y children to ?? to the formal ?? herein â€¦ towards the payment of my childrenâ€™s portions â€¦.
Son William Batman whom I constitute and appoint together with my wife Ffrances Batman to be joint executors of this my last will and testament. In witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the seventeenth day of December 1697

In the name of God, Amen, I William Bateman of Nesthook in the parish of Lambston in the County of Pembroke, Gentleman, being weak in body but of sound and perfect memory. Thanks be to Almighty God, do make this my last will and testament.
Imprimis: I resign my soul into the hands of my great Creator and redeemer God Almighty trusting to the merits of my saviour Jesus Christ to enjoy a happy resurrection and my body to be buried in the Churchyard of Lambston at the east side of the Chancel decently by my Executors hereafter named.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my nephew Lewis Bowen the sum of five shillings if demanded in the twelvemonth after my decease and as he has behaved himself so unhandsomely I hereby declare he shall have no right, title of interest in my real or personal estate.
Item: I give to my dearly loved mother, Ffrances Bateman, the sum of ten pounds for mourning.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Bateman the sum of five pounds.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my sister Frances Bateman the sum of five pounds.
Item: I give and bequeath to my nephew Thomas Bowen the sum of five pounds.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my cousin John Jenkins the sum of seven pounds to be paid him when he is out of his apprenticeship.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto William Greenish, son of John Greenish, the som of twenty pounds to be paid him at one and twenty years of age and if he dies before he come to the age of one and twenty, the legacy ceases and his father, John Greenish, is to have twenty shillilngs a year during his life.
Lastly I leave and appoint my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Bateman and my brother Thomas Bateman joint executors of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me formerly made.

I give and bequeath and devise my lease and leasehold tenement which I hold by virtue of my late uncle John Griffiths (of Schollock aforesaid, bearing date the ?? day of January, 1794? Together with all my personal estate, goods chattels and effects of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever the same may be ??and to the use of John Evans ?? of the Village of Walton East in the aforesaid County of Pembroke, Farmer, John Thomas of the west of the aforesaid Parish of Walton East, Farmer, Thomas Llewellyn of Westhook in the Parish of Ambleston and County of Pembroke aforesaid, Farmer, John Roblin of Forehill, in the Parish of New Mote, in the aforesaid County of Pembroke. Upon the trust nevertheless that they the said, John Evans, John Thomas, Thomas Llewellynand John Roblin their Executors, administrators and assisgns shall and do apply my aforesaid bequests and devises, lease, leasehold tenements, goods, chattels and effects to the sole use and benefit of my dear wife Elizabeth Bateman and my well-beloved children: James B, John B, Thomas B, David B and Evan B, according to the utmost of my aforenamed trustees ability and at their discretion subject nevertheless to the payment and satisfying of all my just debts, my funeral expenses, the expences of proving this my will and liekwise all and every expense that may arise from and be lawfully incurred in consequence of managing the aforesaid affairs. But if my said wife does hereafter marry she is to be de?? of all benefits arising from the ??????
And finally I do hereby constitute and appoint the abovenamed John Evans, John Thomas, Thomas Llewellyn and John Roblin the Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and my will is, and I do hereby direct, that my said executors and trustees shall each of them be answerable for his own acts and receipts only and not the one of them for the other of them.
