The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llanelidan contained the following places:

"LLANELIDAN, a parish in the hundred of Ruthin, county Denbigh, 5 miles S. of Ruthin, its post town, and 8 N.W. of Llangollen. It is situated in the Vale of Clwyd, being watered by a tributary of that river. The parish includes the townships of Bryncume, Garthyneuvedd, Llan, Nantclwyd, and Trewyn-Bodlowgd. The village is considerable. The tithes were commuted in 1839. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of St. Asaph, value £252, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Elidan, and contains monuments to the Lloyd and other families. The parochial charities produce about £30 per annum. The Calvinistic Methodists have a place of worship. A fair is held on the Thursday before Palm Sunday."

"GATHYNENVEDD, a township in the parish of Llanelidan, county Denbigh, North Wales, 5 miles S. of Ruthin."

"LLAN, a township in the parish of Llanelidan, hundred of Ruthin, county Denbigh, 5 miles S. of Ruthin. It is situated at the head of the vale of the Clwyd."

"NANT-CLYWD, a township in the parish of Llanelidan, county Denbigh, 4 miles S. of Ruthin. It is situated near the river Clwyd."

"TREWYN BODLOWYDD, a township in the parish of Llanelidan, county Denbigh, 7 miles N.W. of Llangollen."
