The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llanferras contained the following places:

"LLANFERRAS, a parish in the hundred of Yale, county Denbigh, 4 miles S.W. of Mold, its post town, and 5 N.E. of Ruthin. It is situated in the vale of the river Alyn, which here winds through a glen. There are mines yielding abundance of lead. From the range of hills at the hack of the village a view of the vale and the town of Ruthin is obtained. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of St. Asaph, value £313, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Berres, and has recently been restored. The parochial charities amount to about £20 per annum. This was the birth-place of Davies, a weaver's son, who compiled the Welsh and Latin Dictionary while rector of this parish in 1630.
