The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llanynys contained the following places:

"LLANYNYS, a parish in the hundred of Ruthin, county Denbigh, 3 miles N.W. of Ruthin, its post town, and 5 S.E. of Denbigh. It is situated on the river Clwydd. The parish is 8 miles in length by 2 broad, and includes Trefechan and Rhydonen, and four other townships. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St. Asaph, value with the curacy of Cyfylliog, £415, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Saern. The charities amount to about £3 per annum. Bachymbyd is the seat of Lord Bagot."

"BACHYMBYD, a township in the parish of Llanynys and hundred of Ruthin, in the county of Denbigh, North Wales, 5 miles from Denbigh. It contains the seat of Lord Bagot, which is adorned with a grove of very ancient chestnut trees, of extraordinary size and beauty."

"BRYNCAREDIG, a township in the parish of Llanynys, hundred and borough of Ruthin, in the county of Denbigh, North Wales, 3 miles to the N. of Ruthin."

"ESCEIBON, a township in the parish of Llanynys, county Denbigh, 3 miles N.W. of Ruthin."

"MAESMANCYMRO, a township in the parish of Llanynys, county Denbigh, 3 miles N.W. of Ruthin."

"RHYDONEM, a township in the parish of Llanynys, county Denbigh, 3 miles N.W. of Ruthin, on the river Clwyd."

"TREFECHAN, a township in the parish of Llanynys, county Denbigh, 3 miles N.W. of Ruthin."
