The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Llan Ishen contained the following places:
"LLAN-ISHEN, (or Llanisan), a parish in the hundred of Kibbor, county Glamorgan, 3½ miles S. of Caerphilly, and 4 N. of Cardiff, its post town. The village is small. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Llandaff, value £46. The church is dedicated to St. Isan. The parochial charities, including an endowment to Lewis's school, produce about £33 per annum.
