The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llandough juxta Penarth contained the following places:

"LLANDOUGH-JUXTA-PENARTH, a parish in the hundred of Dines Powis, county Glamorgan, 3 miles S. of Cardiff, its post town, and 11 from Llantrissant. It is situated on the N. shore of the Bristol Channel, near the mouth of the river Taff; and the river Ely flows through it. Here are limestone quarries. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Leckwith, in the diocese of Llandaff. The church is dedicated to St. Dochdwy, and has the remains of an ancient cross. There are charities of about £2 per annum. A farm here was formerly the seat of the Herbert family."
