"PENTYRCH, a parish in the hundred of Miskin, county Glamorgan, 6 miles N.W. of Cardiff, its post town, and 6 from Caerphilly. It is a station on the Taff Vale rail way. The village is situated at a bridge on the river Taf-F The pass of Castle-Coch and the Great Garth, 981 feet above sea level, are in the neighbourhood. The inhabitants are chiefly employed in the iron and coal works. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Llandaff, value £113. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The parochial charities produce about £12 per annum."
