The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Peterston Super Ely contained the following places:

"PETERSTON-SUPER-ELY, a parish in the hundred of Dinas-Powis, county Glamorgan, 7 miles from Cowbridge, its post town, and 6 W. of Cardiff. The village, which is small, is situated on the river Ely, and contains the ruins of one of Fitzhamon's castles. The neighbourhood abounds with limestone. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Llandaff, value £228. The church is dedicated to St. Peter."
