ROATH. NEW BURIAL GROUND.—It appears that the question of burial accommodation has forced itself upon the parishioners in consequence of the ground attached to the parish church having become filled, and that there were two alternatives open, either to enlarge the present ground or endeavour to come to terms with the Cardiff Burial Board for the use of their cemetery. An application to the Cardiff Burial Board resulted in the offer to allow the parishioners of Roath the use of the new cemetery on payment of one-half more than the usual fees. These terms were considered too high, and led to negotiations for the purchase of a piece of land adjoining the parish churchyard,   .....(part extract).....

PROBABLE DEMAND FOR A SCRUTINY It will be remembered that in the Splott Ward. election, Cardiff, the retiring councillor, Mr Comley (Liberal), was defeated by Mr Chappell, the Labour candidate, by only one vote. It is now stated that Mr Comley is likely to demand a scrutiny, one of the grounds alleged being personation. So far as we can learn, however, no final decision has yet been arrived at as to the course which Mr Comley will take, that gentleman not having yet fully considered the position, or being yet in possession of all the information needed for his guidance.

Splott Liberals. RUMPUS ABOUT THE TEMPERANCE CLUB. Threat to Eject a Member from a Meeting Meets With Several Offers to Assist. The adjourned meeting of the Splott Ward Liberal Association was held at the Splott- road Board School on Wednesday evening. Councillor Robinson presiding. The meeting, which had been called for the purpose of forming a Liberal Temperance Club in a central position for the three wards—Splott, Adamsdown, and Roath—was adjourned for the purpose of fnding what support could be obtained from the Adamsdown and Roath Wards. The Chairman, in opening the meeting, called upon the representatives of those wards to present their reports. Mr. Chapman, the steward of the Splott Liberal Working Men's Club, got up and said that he wanted to know why it was that the representatives on the county council for the ward would not recognise the club for which he acted. They had over 200 Liberal voters among their members, and he thought that the Liberal councillors should recognise them. Mr. Robinson said he could not understand what Mr. Chapman wanted to know. The meeting had been called for the purpose of forming a temperance institute. Chapman said he wanted to know why the Liberal councillors Boycotted the present institute. He thought that if a temperance club was formed it would cause a diversion in the ranks of the party.

SPLOTT TRAMCARS At a meeting of the Cardiff County Council today the tramways committee recommended that the horse cars on the Splott route be discontinued at as early a date as possible, and that the horses be sold in the manner already directed by the council. Messrs. Chappell and Roberts strongly opposed the adoption of the recommendation of the committee, and urged that the matter be further considered by the committee.
