The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Roath contained the following places:

"ROATH, (or Rhath), a parish in the hundred of Kibbor, county Glamorgan, 1 mile N.E. of Cardiff, its post town, and 7 miles from Caerphilly. The village, which is of small extent, is situated near the river Rumney. In the vicinity are some ancient earthworks. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Llandaff, value £96. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. Roath Court is the principal residence.
