The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rudry contained the following places:

"RUDRY, (or Ruddry-Rhygwyrn), a parish in the hundred of Caerphilly, county Glamorgan, 2 miles E. of Caerphilly, its post town, and 7 from Cardiff. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the river Romney. There is a mineral well. In the limestone rock lead ore has been found. The living is a curacy annexed to the rectory of Bedwas, in the diocese of Llandaff. The church is dedicated to St. James.
