The National Gazetteer (1868)] "ITTON, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Caldicott, county Monmouth, 3 miles N.W. of Chepstow. It includes the extra parochial liberty of Howick. The village is small, and wholly agricultural. The living is a discharged rectory in the diocese of Llandaff, value £153. The church is an ancient structure dedicated to St. Deinol."
