The National Gazetteer (1868)] "ST. BRIDE NETHERWENT, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Caldicott, in the county of Monmouth, 7 miles to the E. of Newport. Caerleon is its post town. It is situated near the South Wales railway, and contains the hamlet of Llandevenny. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Llandaff, of the value of £178, in the patronage of T. Perry, Esq."
