In 1868, the parish of Puncheston contained the following places:
"PUNCHESTON, a parish in the hundred of Kemess, county Pembroke, 6 miles S.E. of Fishguard, its post town. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the river Cleddy. There are traces of Castell Mael Camp. The land is of a hilly nature. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of St. David's, value £101. The living was once held by Gambold, author of a "Welch and Latin Dictionary.""
