Our gazetteer contains the names of towns and villages, but not the small places such as farms. These names are sometimes used in local records such as parish registers and they do tend to appear on large scale maps. This facility helps you find them by searching in the data made available by the GB1900 Gazetteer project. When the names are found a list is produced giving their location with a link to see it on a map.

There are around one million names in the database with many instances of the same name. So this search is done within three miles of the starting point. You can change the distance by altering the value in the form below.
